The Seventy's represent a time like no other, especially
in art and creativity for me. I had just hitchhiked into Gainesville,
Fl and got a part-time job at the New York Time's paper, the Gainesville
Sun. Living in a tiny room sharing a bathroom with several others,
I endured starvation and the hardest of times while I basked in
the incredible energy that was alive at the time. There was music
everywhere, I was gigging around town as Lightnin' Harpo, getting
started at the Sun, and today I look back on those days as the happiest
and most creative in my lifetime.

One of the things I did was write and illustrate
many original underground comic stories for Gorilla Magazine, published
in Gainesville by my friend, Russ Martin. They represent a mindset
that perhaps only hunger can bring out. I present three of the stories
above in color. The book is 38 pages, and this cover is one of many
versions.
