SHORT STORY SECTION
Six Short Stories:
RAGGED FIN (5,000 words)
Having stopped at a Hacienda on his way back from a scientific expedition into the rain forests of Ecuador, Stanley Goodworth stops for a drink and listens to an old man’s story of his brother. While flying Marijuana out of South America, the brother, Tyrone, goes down in the Gulf but survives by climbing through a broken windshield and out on the propeller, where he sits in the intense heat as blood from a cut attracts a monstrous shark.

Tyrone notices that the bales of pot inside the plane are becoming weighted by the seawater seeping in, and the plane is slowly sinking. His only chance is to swim to a large bale that escaped the plane and is floating on the water some thirty feet away. Even as Stanley listens to the old man’s story, he is confused and intrigued when the man takes a straw bag from about his shoulder and takes out a tsantsa, the shrunken head of his brother.

The Control-Z Game (5,000 Words)
Detective Mike Milwoski investigates a homicide in which a man is found with a shotgun-blast size hole in his stomach, lying on the floor in front of his computer. Further investigation reveals evil secrets inside the computer; a game, the CONTROL-Z game, which allows the user to UNDO the last thing they do.
Mike considers how this game can be put to use in securing financial gain, and together with his girlfriend, Melma, they decide to rob a jewelry store. From there things go from bad to worse, with murder, deceit, and a final climax where life and death depends on a password.

VILANO PRISON (5,000 Words)

"Vilano Prison was constructed before the turn of the Century to house South America’s most sadistic criminals. Men were sent here because their crime warranted a punishment much worse than death. For what they had done they were to suffer as much as it was possible for a human being to suffer, and with each passing day, decry the day they were born. To be sentenced to Vilano Prison was to be thrown to the scorpions and rats and the vampire bats at night. You learned to sleep with your shoes on, and only in your hammock, for to be lax in self-discipline at Vilano Prison was to die many more times than was required. Should a prisoner find a Vampire Bat sucking blood from their foot at night, they would eat it raw, garnishing thereby the only protein their body was ever going to see."
Two men, Memphis and Samson, will attempt to break out the next time the Prison Boat comes around.
